Friends, books and phones

This is going to be a short, but sweet, FFF. My friend Pamela is visiting for the weekend, and we are heading off for a day of exploring and then meeting up with Kathy for dinner.

1. I can't celebrate enough the beautiful weather we're having. With the exception of that little snow storm that came through a week or so ago, Mother Nature has blessed us with a lovely fall. Last weekend was the perfect day for our town's annual marathon. My niece ran in it, and Dan and I and my dad stood on the corner of our street to cheer her on, then headed over to the finish line to join my sister-in-law in cheering Brandi through.

2. Our book club met on Wednesday to discuss Defending Jacob by William Landay. I have mixed feelings about the book, but boy it made for a great discussion! Love these ladies, and book club is one of the highlights of my month.

3. I got a GREAT deal at K*hl's with my "cash" and coupons this week. I bought one of my favorite labels that is always a little bit more than I like to spend, for a song!

4. Brunch with friends on Sunday. Friends that become family. One of life's treasures.

5. Dan and I keep our phones until they literally die or fall apart. Mine was so old, someone thought it was a new model. Well, Dan's phone broke (won't say which grandchild dropped it) and he really didn't want to go with the new larger models. So, he took my old one and I have a brand spankin' new one -- not the latest model, but just a generation below that. I'm loving the larger screen for my pictures AND the fact that when I dropped it in the toilet (clean water) I learned it is waterproof!

Happy Saturday all!

Congratulations to your niece on finishing the marathon. That is awesome! Looks like it was a gorgeous day for a run.

Yay, for waterproof phones! I don't get a new phone very often. My Samsung is over 2 years old. Still works fine. Gary's phone is through his office, and they seem to upgrade him all the time, and then other people in the office take his old one.

Blessings to you,
Patti

We keep our phones til they're dying, too. (Our cars, too!) We just got the Samsung Galaxy 9+ phones this summer even though the 10's are out. We had the Galaxy 6's before that.

I dislike getting new phones, so we keep ours a loooong time. Now my phone screen goes black if it is connected to a call, so I have to wear ear buds to talk. It's a small price to pay to not have to have a new phone.
I'm glad you are enjoying your great weather. No more snow for awhile...
Happy weekend!

Congrats to your sweet niece!
I had to laugh about the phone in the toilet; I've done that!
Enjoy the rest of the weekend.

Hope you have a great weekend with your friend! We've been having great weather, too, after some record hot days. I've not heard of that book. Yay for great deals! I don't like the learning curve of new technology, so I like to keep my phone and iPad mini as long as possible, too. My husband likes getting the next-to-latest phones so they are not as expensive. I do like the new features once I get used to them. My screen is not the biggest, but it's bigger than the old phones, which I like a lot.

I hate the learning curve of getting new electronics so I tend to hang onto phones and computers for a long time. And they are getting bigger again, aren't they? Interested to hear your thoughts on Defending Jacob. Hope you had lots of fun with your friend on the the weekend.
