Catching up

It's been a few weeks since I've been here, so I thought I'd do a bit of catching up.  Where did August go? Off the top of my head, I can't say, so I'm going to peek at my calendar and the pictures on my phone.

The highlight of the month was a trip to Wisconsin for our friends' wedding. We stayed in Egg Harbor for a couple of days, and this was the view from a reception the night before the wedding. I took this with my camera phone and I like the way the sky is kind of fuzzy and washed, like a watercolor painting.

The wedding took place the next evening, and it was so beautiful. Our friends, Mary and Gary, reunited after meeting 40 years ago in college!

While we were in Wisconsin, we got to see Luke and Miranda and the kids. It was a very short visit -- just one day -- but we packed a lot in!  We went to see Luke's new work place, visited a beautiful park near their house, had supper at a new brew pub, and that evening Siefer and I baked a batch of cookies. It was a lot to do, but we had to tide ourselves over until they come to our house for a week in November.

Other than our trip, my calendar is highlighted with appointments -- hair, pedi, dermatologist -- and dates with friends! My friend Pamela was in town, and she is the kind of friend who gladly gave up our lunch date to help me run errands for a family member who was in the hospital for a while this month. It doesn't matter what we do together, we always have fun and get in plenty of gabbing.

We've had backyard bbq's and pool parties and sandbox time with these two!  They are big helpers in the garden, too, hauling watering cans and drenching everything in sight.

And, Dan and I have been filling up our passports this month!  His is a "pint passport" to microbrews in the area. (He goes with his friend Rick, and Pam and I often tag along for a meal and/or shopping!) Mine is the "parks and rec passport" to our local hiking trails.

This morning, I'm off to find a new trail!

My SIL's live very near Egg Harbor, I know it well. Door Co is so beautiful. Glad you had wonderful family time on your trip.

The Egg Harbor picture is truly beautiful! I am so in love with Wisconsin anyway. Never been there but have read two novels recently set there and following a blog friend who moved to beautiful Door County that make me want to visit.

What a terrific name Siefer is--have I spelled that right? Your August sounds delightful, now to fill that passport!

Not sure what the odds are on this husband's name is Gary and we met 40 years ago in college. I guess the difference is we've been married for 35 years! ;) I actually read that part out loud to him. LOL.

It was so good to see a post up from you yesterday. I was busy canning and didn't get a chance to comment then. I am glad you had such a beautiful trip for the wedding! Your pictures are gorgeous!

Yes, where has this month gone?
Your pics are great, especially the first one.
You should frame it.
Sounds like you have had a good August though.
I see your last card every day and say to myself
"You need to write to Karen" and then the da is gone.
One day you will be surprised, there will be a card from me.
Watch out.

M : )

August sounded busy for you, but a lot of fun. Door County is such a beautiful area. My hubby and I honeymooned there (only for a few days) way back in 1984!
