Some July Favorites

On Fridays, I join a group of bloggers to look back at the week and recall five blessings, big and small. If you would like to be a part of Friday Fave Five, the link is here.

On Wednesday, we celebrated Independence Day here in the states. I'm so grateful to live in this beautiful country of ours. Dan and I had a low key celebration. We went out for ice cream, sat on the front step and talked to some of the neighbors, then opted to watch fireworks and a concert -- A Capitol Fourth -- on television.

Dan and I both had days off this week, so we've had a Staycation. The feeling of not knowing what day it is and just taking each one as it comes, has been refreshing. Last night, he made a fire in the fire pit on our patio, and we stayed up late watching the flames and considering whether we should try camping again. It's been years since we last went, and it was always a regular part of our summers. Today, we went to the History Colorado Center and saw an exhibit on the history of baseball. We also saw an exhibit called "100 Things Colorado" which had a 100 items depicting our state's history. Both were very interesting.

My super clean house! I'm grateful that I am back to full strength and have the ability to clean like a crazy person, like I did yesterday. And of course thankful to have a home to clean.

I have mentioned that I'm taking a weekly health class, and really need to do a post on this. One of the things I'm continually grateful for is the other members of the class who are always so encouraging, even when I have a tough week like last week and struggled to stay on program.

Every night I feel so blessed when I pick up a book from my nightstand, grab my book light, and get in a couple chapters with my hubby sleeping beside me. It's just the best way to end the day.

To all of you, I hope you had a good week as well:)

I used to love baseball but haven't watched or followed it in years. I too love a clean house!
I've been a reader since I was a child. I read every day. This year I'm mostly listening to audiobooks, but I always have a print or Kindle book going too.

Oh how I wish my house was super clean....or even a bit cleaner than it is. I've had a busy few weeks at work and my husband has been home recuperating from a surgery so he's been doing the housekeeping. It's not quite to my standards but it's still nice to have it done.

Yes, it is the best way to end the day! That's a reward I look forward to every night. I don't seem to have the hours in a day to read that I did when I was younger. Wouldn't you think it would be the other way around? Your other favorites sound nice to me too. But then they always do, you have a gift for telling us about them. I like reading about your fives.

Low-key celebrations are sometimes just the way to go. Sounds like yours was very much enjoyed. Glad to hear you are feeling strong enough to clean that whole house. I have that in my plans this week. Reading before bed, yes, yes, yes.

I like a low key 4th celebration. I had planned to watch A Capitol Fourth but ended up not turning it on. I enjoy staycations and finding time to visit local places we never get to otherwise. I'm glad you're feeling back to normal! I like reading a few ages before sleeping, too.

Hello Karen,

I am finally getting back to a normal blogging routine again and I've really enjoyed stopping by here and catching up with all that has been taking place in your life.

I am so glad to hear that you are back to your full strength again. I cleaned like a madwoman last week and now it won't be as hard to keep things up on a regular basis.

What is the name of the second picture of the flowers that you shared about? It is such a beautiful shade of white. All of your flowers are beautiful.

Glad you and your hubby take time out to enjoy going for ice cream or stopping by the new place for your favorite brew and nachos for a light supper.

Enjoy your summer, day by day!
