Tulsa, part 2

For Tulsa, part 1, go here.

There are just a few photos for this post, because really the best of times with friends can't be captured with pictures. The best part of my visit with Pam and Jim was the time spent laughing, sharing news, and rehashing memories, of which there are many because we've known each other for years. Pam and I watched the Oscars, and even though neither of us had seen any of the movies, we still found a lot to talk about. One night the three of us watched a movie on Netflix, Life As a House with Kevin Kline. It's an oldie (2001), but very good.

On Saturday, we all went to the historic town of Claremore and wandered the main avenue. We spent the morning looking through some fabulous antique shops, and ended up at a bookstore called Boarding House Books. A heavenly spot for book lovers! Located in a 100-year-old building that was once a boarding house, it houses over 40,000 volumes, mostly used.

The parlor is a cozy space to relax.

The rest of the rooms were filled with books.

Books galore!

Everywhere!

I could be very comfortable taking up residence here, if only they still rented out rooms.

Jim is a lot like Dan, and knew that Pam and I would have a lot of catching up to do. Even though we text and talk on the phone regularly, she is the sister I never had, so there's always something to talk about. One day, Jim left in the morning and came back at noon to find us in exactly the same spot on the sofa, still talking. He said, "Okay, you two must be doubling back around. There's no way you can still find new things to discuss." (Ha! He underestimates us.)

There's nothing like time spent with good friends. I'm already looking forward to our next visit, when Dan will be with us, and we'll be celebrating the wedding of Pam and Jim's son Matt.  More good times and memories in the making!

I'm so glad that you had this opportunity to get away and spend time with friends like this, Karen. I have a friend like this as well and we, too, can sit for hours and talk!

I'd be happy to live at the Boarding House Books! I especially love the bathtub filled with books...and love the steps that have the spines of books done. THAT took someone a LOT of time and talent!

Thank you so much for sharing your time away with us.

I am drooling over that bookstore. It's gorgeous. I could spend hours in a place like that.

Your trip sounds like so much fun Karen. Good friends are so wonderful to have in your life. Glad you had lots of time to talk about life. Your visit to the PW ranch sounds great. I have seen her show a few times while at work, she always seems so calm and happy.

That bookstore would be another place I would be in trouble.
Love bookstores.

Always good to be with friends.
