A Daybook

For Today. . . February 25, 2013

Outside my window. . . a fresh blanket of snow from yesterday's blizzard.  Blue skies and bright sunshine.

I am thinking. . . of Dan at O'Hare Airport with a million other people.  He left the house at 4:00 this morning to catch an early flight.  It will be a full day of travel for him.

I am thankful. . . for a warm house with a fireplace.

In the kitchen. . . lingering aromas of the Italian dinner we had yesterday.  Meatball sandwiches for supper tonight.  Emily baked chocolate chip cookies yesterday.

I am wearing. . . jeans, sweater, hiking boots.

I am creating. . . a new journal.

I am going. . . to take the dogs for a walk and then stay home the rest of the day until it's time to pick Emily up from school.

I am reading. . . "Rules of Civility" by Amor Towles, for book club.

I am hoping. . . that we get some more snow tomorrow, as we need the moisture.

I am looking forward to. . .when Dan gets home at the end of the week, and spending time with our friends this weekend.

I am hearing. . . Brad Paisley on Pandora radio.

I am learning. . . how to slipcover a chair.

Around the house. . . bills to pay, bathrooms to clean, make a menu plan, get organized so the rest of the week will flow smoothly.

A favorite quote for today. . . "You have circled this mountain long enough.  Now turn North."
(Deut. 2:3)

Some of my favorite things. . .  avocados, good manners, watching the Academy Awards.

A few plans for the rest of the week. . .  coffee with a friend, some appointments, work, a birthday party.

A peek into my day. . . Some photos from yesterday's snowstorm.

Lovely post today Karen. I love the Academy Awards, just so I can see all those beautiful clothes.
Hugs to you,

Great !

Does Dan's travel have to do with
the new job?

We are in for another snow doozie!

The untouched snow looks so beautiful. Safe travels to your hubby. Hope the week goes quickly for you both.

I usually just catch the last of the academy awards. It just goes on way too long for me. And I'm a lover of good manners!

beautiful pictures! So glad you are getting the moisture too - it's the best thing about all of this messy but beautiful weather. I enjoyed your daybook.. and I absolutely love the Deut. verse.. that will be my mantra today. Thank you! -Tammy

Yes, that verse from Deuteronomy is powerful! But then, everything you mentioned spoke to my heart even down to the avocados. What a perfect food--that and eggs. Most of all is the fact that everything you wrote about involves your senses, using them to appreciate the good simple things in your life. My kids tease me because I have a post it note inside a bathroom cabinet that says "I love a good rut." And I do, no drama queen here. Just a quiet life, please.
