Friday Favorites

I've really fallen out of the loop with Friday's Fave Five.  I don't know why, since it's one of my favorite blogging things to do.  Without further ado, here are some moments of gratitude that came my way this week:

1. After frigid temps last earlier this week, today it was near 60 degrees outside.  It was so nice to shed my coat and enjoy the warmth.

2.  I've mentioned before that the office I work in has two therapy dogs.  One of our dogs, a golden retriever who retired a few months ago, passed away last week.  He was such a gift to so many children, as he worked side by side with the therapist who counseled them.  I was touched over and over by how pure children are in expressing their feelings.  One little boy threw his arms around our therapist and hugged her, telling her to "it's okay to cry."  They came with notes and hand-drawn pictures and cards, throughout the week.  Such big hearts inside these little ones.

3.  On a lighter note, I mentioned to my husband one day how nice it would be to have some extra storage space for all the jars of spices I've accumulated.  By the end of the week, he'd installed a spice rack inside one of the cabinet doors.  With it and the drawer below, I have tons of space.  What a great guy!

4.  Gas at $1.57 a gallon!  Our grocery store gives points for every dollar you spend, and I redeemed a bucket load yesterday -- saved a dollar a gallon.  I almost did cartwheels when I filled the tank for $25!!

5.  A real letter in the mail.  It brightened my day:)

Susanne hosts Friday Fave Five every week.  Here's the link if you would like to join in.

That's a nice shelf your husband made for you ! Our gas prices are far higher in Europe we pay the same price or a little more for only 0.3 gallons !

Your spices look great! I redeemed a $0.50 coupon on gas yesterday and was happy to get it for $2.85. You did great!

Wonderful things to be thankful for. Therapy dogs are amazing. My Max wouldn't do well as he views all kids as his nemesis! I think he forgot to read the Golden Retriever book about them being good with children.
Love your spices, funny how something so simple can make life so much easier.
Hugs to you and Happy Weekend,

I was just thinking about a more convenient way to be able to see my spices. Your space looks great! sweet to hear the sentiment of that child for the therapist.
A tank for $25.00! Those were the days...
Have a great weekend.

Love your spice rack -- and your hubby's thoughtfulness! How nice.

Glad you've had some warmer weather. (That's chilly for us!)

Yes, Andrew is getting married. That's my son who was injured in an auto accident about a year ago. There's more about that (and the joy of the engagement) here

Have a great week!

Welcome back to FFF! Lots to warm your heart this week :-) Thank you for sharing that sweetness from the children. Hurray for extra storage and $25 fill-ups (!) and real mail.

Love your spice organization! How nice that your hubby did that all on his own!

Great gas price. Our Krogers gives discounts on gas based on how many groceries you buy. I've never tried it but if I could save $1 per gallon, maybe I should ...

It was touching to hear of the children's reaction to the loss of a therapy dog. I would imagine a dog like that would be hard to replace.

Seeing all those spices reminds me that you are a good cook. :)

Happy New Year to you and your family, Karen!

I should get out my journal and write some things down that I am thankful for. I used to do that.

Wow, that is quite the deal on gas that you got.

My spices seem to multiply in my cupboard. Isn't it nice to have somewhere nice to put them all. Good job your hubby did, it looks like a great solution.

So sad about the therapy dog. They are definitely special.

Those are great especially the gas!
Such a nice gesture on the hubby's part to help you out.

Enjoy the rest of your weekend.

A great solution for your spices! I think I need the same.

The story about the children and the death of the Golden Retriever is so touching.

Enjoy your warmer weather - we're in a deep freeze!
