My Favorite Thing

Today, I'm linking up with Claudia's "Favorite Things" party.

When we gave the kitchen a "face lift" my favorite thing was the changes we made to the island.  Originally there were two small drawers, and the lower half was a cabinet.  It was really hard to keep things organized and get at things that kept falling to the back.

So, my handy dandy hubby replaced the cabinet part with four deep drawers.  They're great for keeping tupperware, pot lids, large bowls and other assorted items.

On the other side, we put two towel racks.  I use these for my holiday towels and aprons, and a few vintage tablecloths that I've collected.

There are lots of great ideas linked up to Claudia's, "My Favorite Thing" party.  Head on over and take a peek:)

What a nice re-do of that island, Karen! So much more practical and I love the way you've hung those pretty towels on the other side.

Thanks so much for linking up this week!

Wow-- I'm so jealous! I literally have about 18" of usuable counter space in my entire kitchen! Ugh!

I love it! I would like to replace all my cupboards with drawers.

That is a wonderful island. Those drawers! And so roomy. One can dream.

Drawers are certainly more practical than cabinets. How luck to have a husband who can make such changes. I like your island very much.

Karen, I love the drawers instead of a cabinet. I would love to do that with mine. Any chance you could post something about how he did it?

There's nothing like a great island to work from. Lover the towel bar.

Happy Monday!

Your hubby is a handy dandy guy. Your island is lovely! I got deep drawers in our kitchen reno too and love them but alas, our kitchen layout doesn't allow for an island.

I like it a lot!! Wish I had drawers where some of my cabinets are - I spend way to much time digging, looking for something. Not to mention my knees scream when I do. :/
Thanks for stopping by and nice comment on my daughter's creations - including the little redhead. :-D
