For Today

FOR TODAY, November 17, 2008...
Outside my window...The neighborhood is very quiet. All the kids have left for school, adults are either off to work or inside their homes going about their daily routine. The sun is shining and it's going to be another beautiful day.
I am thinking..about how fast the weekend went and that in one more week the holiday season will officially begin.
I am thankful...that I don't have to take chemistry ever again in my life. This weekend, I helped my son study for a biochem exam. It's been 30 plus years since I took biochem in college. I'm thankful and in awe of people who understand science and can apply it to making our lives better.
From the kitchen...Dan is out of town this week, so we'll have simple things for supper. . . soups and sandwiches, breakfast foods.
I am wearing...a black sweatsuit
I am creating...piles of packages from holiday shopping. It's mostly all done.
I am be running around a lot this week, so this is my stay-at-home-day to work.
I am reading...Loving Frank, a fictional account of Frank Lloyd Wright. Still reading this from last week. I can only get in a chapter or so at a time in the evenings. I'm not sure if that's why the book seems to be slow-moving or if it's the plot line.
I am hoping...that my son does well on his exam tomorrow.
I am hearing...a clock ticking and the drone of an airplane overhead.
Around the house...I repainted the living room. Yes, the room I painted last weekend. The chocolate brown was way too dark, and the new soft celery green is relaxing and calming. It was worth doing over again.
One of my favorite things...when the milkman starts carrying the quart size bottles of eggnog for the holiday season.
A few plans for the rest of the week... Book Club on Wednesday, Bible Study on Tuesday, choir for Em on Wednesday, shop with my aunt for her new car!, haircuts, homework for kids, all the usual stuff
Here is picture thought I am sharing. . . this is my desk, which typically reflects my state of mind. As you can see, it is very full, very disorganized and needs attention. The same might be said for my house. There is laundry to do, bathrooms to clean, sheets to change, kids to feed. So I won't be blogging for the rest of the week. Have a good week, everyone, and I'll be back once I get my act together!

I'm on Shelfari also. I noticed your shelf. I will try to find you. I'm impressed that you have your Christmas shopping done. I haven't even thought about it. I hope you have a good week. Doylene

Oh, how I envy you the finished shopping, says one who's not begun. :-o

You are a very busy woman. I'm amazed at all that you get done. Good for you, not stopping with the painting until it was what you could truly enjoy.

I need to get my house in order, too. You've inspired me today. ;-)

Hey, Your desk is not so bad, you can still see wood!
Glad you finally got the right color for your front room. The brown proably seemed like a good idea, but living with it was another story. The dining room in our house is painted Cantalope, like the melon. Tis not my color of choice at all. I have the front room all planned out (I think), once Jim has all the holes patched we can start working on it.
I saw a treatment that I like in an This old house email, going to do it on our entry.

Good luck with all your chores, looking forward to a new post.

Thank you for your compliment on my girls, they are cute and sweet.

I hope your busy week is going well! My desk might be worse with all my sewing on it. Your christmas shopping is done? I'm a wee bit jealous, haven't even started.

I would love to see a picture of that celery paint. I'm trying to decide what color to do mine and cringing at the thought of actually having to do it.

What?? You have all your Christmas shopping done? How did you manage that? I actually think I would be further along but am hampered by lack of funds...bummer.

Your desk looks well loved and well used. Hope you get it all sorted out though, so you feel better about it.

I can't believe you're almost done with your Christmas shopping, Karen. I haven't even started!

Biology and chemistry were agony. I'd never ever want to take those two courses again. I wouldn't even want to help someone do homework in those two subjects. Hope he did well on his test.
